Meet the team

Joe learned the importance of financial planning in his youth after starting a lawn-mowing company to support his family. Since then, his passion has evolved into helping others lead happy, worry-free lives. Joe became a Sun Life advisor in 2002 and moved to Moose Jaw in 2005, where he created Blue Whale. With his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® designation, Joe’s specialties include comprehensive retirement planning, tax planning, estate planning and succession planning. Joe graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Finance degree. Before he became an advisor, Joe took on various roles in the financial services industry. Some of these roles included:

• Investment Analyst and Fund Manager with The Saskatchewan Opportunities Corporation,
• Training Manager at the Sun Life Financial Regina Financial Centre, and
• Sun Life advisor representative for Saskatchewan and Manitoba on Sun Life’s Sales Force Council and Sales Force Advisory Council.

Joe is also a former member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT). The *MDRT is an independent international association representing the top five percent of financial services professionals. Joe and his wife, Krista, have three wonderful daughters, Caitlin, Emily and Elizabeth. A strong sense of family values and community spirit is at the heart of Joe’s personality.

Jennie was brought to the Blue Whale team in 2008. Since then, Jennie has been working with individuals and businesses to help them prepare for the future and optimize their finances. Jennie’s a licensed life insurance and accident and sickness insurance agent, and a registered mutual fund representative. She has also achieved her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Chartered Life Underwriter® designations since joining us.

Jennie enjoys working with Clients who are looking for assurance about their financial future. She helps those who are wanting to establish a financial plan to create a fulfilling lifestyle. This includes income and estate protection, accumulation of wealth and retirement planning.

Jennie brings enthusiasm and positivity to the very serious matter of money. Clients value her unique style of planning and appreciate her ability to make the complex easy to understand.

Jennie grew up in Regina and is an avid Roughrider fan. She has a naturally positive outlook that draws people to her. Because Jennie displays an open manner and an outgoing nature, she quickly gains the respect and trust of others. When Jennie’s not working, you will find her traveling, at the beach, enjoying live music or at a fine restaurant.

Kelly has been a proud member of the Blue Whale team since 2006. Kelly’s role has evolved over the years, and we’re pleased to mention that she now works as an advisor. In addition, Kelly helps coordinate Client appreciation events, charitable fundraisers and volunteering activities.

Kelly’s strong upbringing and devotion to family help her better understand family dynamics and work seamlessly with different age groups. Kelly genuinely cares about Clients and their families and highly encourages them to take an active role in their finances.

Kelly’s a licensed life insurance and accident and sickness insurance agent, as well as a mutual funds representative. Kelly also completed the Investment Funds Institute of Canada course and has a marketing diploma from the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Sciences and Technologies.

As a sports enthusiast, Kelly has spent many years playing and coaching fastball, basketball and volleyball. She volunteers and works on the boards for several different charitable organizations in the community. Golfing has become her newest passion and she tries to get on the course as much as she can.

With over 34 years of experience in the financial industry, Fred has the knowledge to help Clients reach their goals. He owned his own practice for many years and in 2020, he amalgamated with Blue Whale Financial Solutions. Fred’s passionate about creating relationships with Clients that are built on trust. Nothing makes him happier than seeing the results that a strong financial plan can bring.

When Fred’s not working, you can find him golfing at Elmwood Golf in Swift Current. In the winter months, he likes to escape the cold and travel to hot destinations.

Brenda worked in an administrative position in the retail industry for 18 years before joining our team in 2014. Brenda excels in her role due to her keen attention to detail, love of helping Clients and passion for teamwork. Clients appreciate her friendly, caring and dedicated approach. She has her office education certificate as well as both mutual fund and life registrations.

Brenda moved to Moose Jaw from Waldeck, at a young age and has lived here ever since. She has three beautiful daughters, their spouses, and four grandchildren who are the light of her life. Away from the office, Brenda enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading, swimming, camping and crafting. Brenda values supporting charities like the Canadian Cancer Society and mental health causes. In the community, Brenda has enjoyed scorekeeping for Moose Jaw Ladies Fastball.

With over 14 years in customer service and sales, Sheri brings a unique perspective to our team. Sheri originally started as a receptionist, but as of 2018, she became a Service Associate. Sheri now has both a mutual fund registration and a life insurance license. She’s always interested in continuing her education. Sheri works closely with our advisors to help Clients have the best possible experience. Since joining the industry, she has learned so much about the importance of planning for the future. That’s why she’s passionate about helping others set themselves up for success.

Sheri has lived in Moose Jaw since 1988. She’s married with four children who all live close by. When she’s not with her family, she likes to work on her house, refurbish furniture, collect graphic novels and craft.

Kelli has an extensive background in customer service. Before being brought to the team in 2018, she enjoyed over 20 years working in various customer service management positions. As our receptionist, Kelly’s diligent in providing Clients with the best service possible. She’s passionate about going above and beyond and values making everyone feel welcomed and appreciated.

Raised on a farm near Abbey, Saskatchewan, Kelli helped with her family’s grain and cattle operations. This taught her the value of hard work. Working on the land has given her a deep appreciation of the outdoors. When it’s time to relax, she enjoys quadding, being on the lake, range shooting and vacationing with family and friends.

Elysia happily joined the Blue Whale team in 2021 and brings over 10 years of quality customer service experience from various fields. Elysia’s currently working towards her finance diploma at Saskatchewan Polytechnic and is excited to develop her career in the industry. Elysia enjoys helping Clients while putting a smile on their faces. We love having her young, dynamic energy on the team!

Elysia’s roots originate from the Okanagan, British Columbia. She likes to say that the outdoors, especially enjoying a good beach, runs in her blood. Elysia can often be found working in her yard, hosting barbecues, playing sports, or hanging out with her family. Fun fact, Elysia is the youngest of six siblings!

Kizzy joined the Blue Whale team in 2023 after a successful career in the banking industry. Since 2011, she has held roles in retail, small business and corporate and commercial banking. She’s passionate about customer service and always puts herself in the Client’s shoes. Kizzy treats Clients the way she would like to be treated when it comes to her financial goals.

She and her family recently moved to Moose Jaw from the beautiful twin island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their young child. In her free time, she enjoys reading, travelling and trying out new restaurants.

After Spending 12 years as the Executive Director at The Moose Jaw Multicultural Council, Stefanie accepted a role with Blue Whale Financial in 2024. As the Executive Assistant, her primary function is to provide high-level administrative support and facilitate the efficient operation of the advisor’s offices, enabling them to focus on serving Clients and strategic functions. Stefanie believes that she’s uniquely skilled at being able to see, understand and respect people and their varying perspectives. Her attention to detail is a great asset when maintaining the highest standards of service Clients of Blue Whale have come to appreciate.

Stefanie was born and raised in Moose Jaw and graduated from Saskatchewan Polytechnic with a diploma in Business-HR in 2007. In her spare time, she likes singing in the local choir and spending time with family and friends in nature with her 2 golden retrievers.
